Book!!!!! Book!!!! My husband and I planned a 8 day safari over Christmas holiday using African Horizons. I believe some context is necessary for our review. My husband and I have traveled to over 20 countries in the last 5 years, and have been to almost every continent. We had very high expectations for our trip to Africa. It was our first time using a travel agency, due to traveling a lot over the year- we decided to use an agency for this journey. It was the BEST decision.

First of all, the organization and collaboration before the safari was deliberate and influential in planning the perfect vacation for us two. Marie was a rock star and got to know us while planning a trip that was completely tailored to our needs.

Second of all, the organization and wonderfulness continues when you step off the plane. Everything and I mean every travel detail is completely accommodating. You are greeted at the airport and taken care of every moment of the way.

Thirdly, the guides- WOW! Benjamin was extremely knowledgeable. When you are on a safari and traveling all over it is important to enjoy the time you have with your guide. Benjamin not only had a vast wealth of knowledge but he was a very kind and genuine person. My husband and I really enjoyed his company. Besides being an expert guide and taking us to see everything and working hard to make the experience beyond perfect, he was funny and interesting to converse with. This is also true of Felix, who greeted us at the airport and helped us in the beginning and end of our journey to Kenya. When we got back to Nairobi after our safari, we had a very late flight. My husband and I assumed we would be dropped off at the airport very early. NOPE! Felix and Benjamin went the extra mile and gave us a tour of the city, we went shopping and also got coffee together before heading to the airport. Both were incredibly generous and fantastic to be around.

Fourth, this will be the most amazing trip you will ever take! Enjoy the superior service and fantastic people you are about to meet!

From beginning to end we were unable to find fault with our 8 day safari road trip. We were met on arrival transferred to our hotel in Nairobi for an over night stay met the next morning for our briefing and then off we set, we visited Treetops in Aberdares then left for Samburu National Park after two nights we then set off for Nakuru lake national park ( I would advise a two night stay at this location) and then onto Masai Mara National Park. A lovely mixture of parks all different and amazing in their own ways. Got to see the big five and more due to the skill of our driver/guide and ended with a night in Nairobi, a visit to the giraffe centre followed by the Carnivore restaurant. We then had arranged a four night stay in Diani, Mombassa the Swahili beach hotel was a joy. Holidays are for making memories and we certainly made a few on this trip. A fantastic company, amazing service, such lovely people wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them to others. There is quite a bit of driving but we used this time to take in the sites and chill and we couldn’t see how this could be done any other way you certainly wouldn’t have wanted to spend all of your time in one park, all the different parks are what made this trip so special.
